Behavior-Oriented OHS Training

Behavior-Based Occupational Safety (BBOS) is an efficient approach to prevent occupational risks by positively impacting the behaviors of employees (through training, observation, coaching, strong communication and monitoring the application process).
As its health impact on injuries and working cultures is spreading worldwide, it can reach its remarkable potential only when EVERYONE in the industrial complex acts in line with this approach. Organizations that try to make use of the benefits of the BBOS understand its principles and apply its procedures, and this requires extensive participation in all activities related to the BBOS.

The BBOS Principles can be listed as follows:
- It is a continuous process, not a project.
- It reduces exposure to hazards, leading to decreased number of accidents.
- It is proactive, not reactive.
- The principle of no sneakiness, no name and no crime is taken as basis.
- It increases employee participation, communication and risk perception.
- It strengths active visible leadership.
- The culture of adaptation to occupational safety turns into a culture of commitment to occupational safety in the course of time.
It ensures a change of culture towards pulling rather than pushing. An approach is applied in which the demands and problems are communicated from bottom to top, and the resources, coaching and appreciation are ensured from top to bottom.
While the BBOS is often viewed as essential only for field workers, it is mostly impacted by corporate culture and the behaviors of managers. Therefore, the entire company will adopt the Behavior-Based Occupational Safety perspective, when the participation of the following individuals in the BBOS is achieved.
- Top managers / directors
- Mid-level managers
- Foremen / supervisors / team leaders
- Field workers
